Insulated Concrete Forms

The use of ICF (Insulated Concrete Forms) is a modern construction technique that offers numerous benefits. ICF walls are made of individual insulated forms with steel reinforcing rebar placed horizontally and vertically inside the form and then filled with concrete, providing excellent thermal insulation, safety and soundproofing.

ICF walls provide the same structural integrity as a conventional concrete foundation, but also provide insulation, air and moisture barriers, and a cladding within the form for attaching finish materials both inside and out, all in one step. This innovative construction method is known for its durability, energy efficiency and resistance to natural disasters.

If you're looking for a sustainable and cost-effective way to build your dream home,

ICF construction might be the perfect choice for you.

What do insulated concrete forms look like?

1.  Rebar Support - ICF walls have a combination of horizontal and vertical rebar throughout to support below and above grade walls, which exceeds safety, resilience and durability requirements. A standard basement foundation contains #4 rebar at 16" On Center horizontally and #4 rebar at 24" On Center vertically.  More complicated structures and commercial applications often require larger or more frequent rebar placement which can be designed and specified by the project engineer.

2.  Double Layer Insulation - Both interior and exterior sides of the wall have a continuous layer of expanded polystyrene foam insulation. This creates an exceptionally efficient home that provides energy savings and sound mitigation because the insulation is continuous on the exterior of the structure.

3.  Solid Wall Air Barrier - Exceeds the minimum for airtightness which allows for comfortable indoor environments to enhance climate control.

4.  Continuous Vapor Barrier - With a continuous barrier, healthier air quality occurs. ICF eliminates the fears of moisture intrusion, mold and rot.

5.  Full Height Fastening Straps - Allows for any exterior or interior finishing material to be attached with ease. Using ICF eliminates thermal bridging due to the continuous nature of the forms.
